An Erap Joke (Long Forgotten)

This joke was started back in 1998 when Joseph Estrada was running for president. Some ascribed his winning to his “apparent acceptance to his apparent stupidity.” That meant that if people thought he was stupid and unfit for the highest office, he would embrace that image and laugh along with everybody at his mistakes.  Jokes about Joseph Estrada, or Eraptions as we called them, proliferated during the campaign.  People were trying to outdo themselves coming up with the funniest jokes.

The strategy worked–he became president.

Anyway, here’s one of my favorites:

Joseph Estrada joins a talent contest to see who is most suitable for president.

Emcee: Contestants, the rules are simple. We will play with one of the words missing. In order to win, you must supply the word, and then spell the word.

Contestant 1: I’m ready!

Emcee: Here’s the song… “Old MacDonald had a _______…”

Contestant 1: Car!

Audience: Boo!

Contestant 2: Wife!

Audience: Boo!

Joseph Estrada: I’m ready! I’m ready! The answer is farm!

Audience: Horray! (Applause)

Emcee: Very good Mr. Estrada! Now, to win you must spell “farm.”

Joseph Estrada: E-I-E-I-Ooooo!

Laugh now if you want.
