While taking a breather from my research, I glanced out the window towards the fish pond and saw two dragonflies mating. A big red male had grasped his partner’s head with his abdominal clasping genitalia, and they were flying around in tandem.
For a short while anyway.
Turns out the female didn’t like it that much and shook off the male. (I didn’t know that could happen.) Female then spent the next few minutes dipping the tip of her abdomen into the water of pond. I guess she was depositing eggs from a previous mating. Or something.
