Saturday Afternoon Adventure at UP

My beloved M and I promised ourselves that today would be Lazy Saturday. That means we would take things quite easy and spend as much time lazying away. Well we really didn’t lazy the day away–there was still the laundry to do. But when afternoon came we decided to go to UP and just munch our way through a snack fest.

I’d been planning to go to UP for some time now but things have been happening left and right that I either forgot about it or deferred going altogether. (I intended to have some book binding done.)

Our first stop after dropping the papers off at the shop was Mang Larry’s Isaw stand, behind the College of Law Bldg. (For those not familiar with the term, an “isaw” is a street food made from barbecued pig or chicken intestines. The intestines are cleaned, turned inside out, cleaned again (and again, and again), speared through with a stick, and barbecued.


Sadly there were too many people that my beloved M changed her mind about the isaw and we opted for fishballs instead. You had to fall in line to order the food, and then form another line at the other side of the stall (see the lady at the extreme left side of the pic) to wait while your order is heated up.

My beloved gave me some trivia regarding Mang Larry–turns out he has made enough money from the selling of tripe (and I mean that in a good way) to send all his kids to school. Wow!

As for the fishballs, I think we had about forty pieces each, plus some Mountain Dew on the side.


Then we shopped a bit at the Shopping Center where I found this little curiosity. Gift wrapping paper emblazoned with the words, University of the Philippines.  Coolness.


Finally we washed everything down with green tea (and more food) at Serenitea. (This is actually our dinner.)
